About This Design

This Shouxing longevity deity with staff design stitches out at 88.2 × 88.2 mm (3.5 × 3.5 in) and uses 35 thread colors across 36 color changes. Total count is 23,869 stitches at a density of about 306.8 stitches/cm².

At The Machine

  • Estimated stitch-out time: ~40 minutes at 600 spm
  • Color changes: 36, automatic trims: 41
  • Follow the color sequence table above — thread numbers refer to the chart programmed in the file; match them to your brand by color.

Fabric & Hooping

At about 306.8 stitches/cm² this is a very heavy fill, near the limit of what a domestic machine handles comfortably. Use two layers of firm cut-away, drop to roughly 400 spm, and expect a stiff finished patch — keep it off garments that need to drape. At 88.2 × 88.2 mm a 4×4 in hoop is plenty.

Thread Colors in This Design

DST files store stitch data but no thread information, so the colors below are our suggested DMC match. Swap in whatever you have in a similar shade:

  • 550 Very Dark Violet
  • 815 Medium Garnet
  • 704 Bright Chartreuse
  • 3746 Dark Blue Violet
  • 310 Black
  • 444 Dark Lemon
  • 820 Very Dark Royal Blue
  • 415 Pearl Gray
  • 741 Medium Tangerine
  • 996 Medium Electric Blue
  • 738 Very Light Tan
  • 900 Dark Burnt Orange

…plus 23 more in the full color sequence above.

Stitching Notes

At 35 colors and 36 changes this is a long session. Sort and label the spools in sequence order, and pick a stopping point in advance so you can step away mid-design without losing your place. DST stores stitch data only, which is why the color list is a suggestion rather than the digitizer's original choice.

What to Make With It

A picture-style design wants a flat, stable surface where it can be seen whole: a framed hoop piece, a quilt centre, a cushion front or the back of a jacket. Avoid stretchy garments, which distort the shape.
